The Supreme Court of India has taken up a key petition regarding the Haryana Assembly elections. Karan Singh Dalal, a former Haryana Cabinet Minister, and Lakhan Kumar Singla, a recent election candidate, filed the plea. They demand verification and scrutiny of the Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) used during the polls.
The petitioners allege that discrepancies in EVM functioning may have influenced the election results. They urge the court to order a thorough verification process to ensure free and fair elections.
During today’s hearing, the Supreme Court recognized the matter’s significance. It directed the case to the Chief Justice of India (CJI), who will assign an appropriate bench to hear the petition.
This case highlights the vital role of transparency in safeguarding India’s electoral integrity. Maintaining public trust in democratic systems remains crucial.
