🌐 Introduction
The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) has released Trade Notice No. 05/2025-26 dated June 13, 2025. It announces the extended rollout of the ‘Source from India’ feature on the Trade Connect ePlatform for all Status Holder exporters.
📢 What is the Trade Connect ePlatform?
Launched by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, the Trade Connect ePlatform (www.trade.gov.in) is designed as a centralized hub for international trade. It connects various stakeholders, including:
- Indian Missions Abroad
- Export Promotion Councils
- EXIM Bank
- Department of Commerce
- DGFT
🛍️ About ‘Source from India’
‘Source from India’ is a flagship feature aimed at helping global buyers discover Indian exporters. Exporters can now create micropages that highlight their:
- Product catalog
- Entity credentials
- Export achievements
Once approved, these profiles appear on the Source from India page, increasing global visibility for Indian businesses.
📌 What’s New in 2025?
- Initially, only Three-, Four-, and Five-star manufacturer exporters could create micropages.
- Now, all Status Holder exporters (with valid IECs not on the DEL list) can apply.
- DGFT plans to broaden access to all IEC holders soon. A separate update will notify this expansion.
🌍 Role of Indian Missions & EPCs
Indian Missions Abroad have been instructed to actively use ‘Source from India’ when responding to sourcing requests from international buyers.
Export Promotion Councils (EPCs) and industry associations are encouraged to:
- Inform their members
- Promote participation among eligible exporters
- Share the step-by-step registration guide annexed to the notice
📝 Summary
With this update, DGFT aims to boost Indian exports by providing easier global visibility for qualified exporters. The initiative aligns with the broader Make in India vision and supports SME exporters in entering international markets.
