The Hon’ble Allahabad High Court in the case of Vishal Steel Supplier v. State of U.P. [Writ Tax No. 741 of 2020] ruled that there is no provision in the Goods and Services Tax Act, 2017 (CGST Act) requiring the disclosure of the transportation route. This ruling highlights a key difference between the CGST Act and the Value Added Tax Act, 2008 (VAT Act). The Court quashed the unjustified detention of goods and ordered a refund for the petitioner.
