No New Anti-Profiteering Cases from FY26 as GST Tribunal Takes Over

Starting April 1, 2025, no new anti-profiteering cases will be registered. The GST Appellate Tribunal (GSTAT) will now handle all pending cases, taking over from the Competition Commission of India (CCI). This shift, recommended by the GST Council, aims to simplify compliance and marks the end of the anti-profiteering mechanism.

Businesses will have more flexibility to set prices from the beginning of FY26, as market forces will largely determine costs without anti-profiteering regulations. However, ongoing cases before the deadline will continue to be processed.

This change empowers the Principal Bench of GSTAT with the expertise to handle tax law-related issues, ensuring fair decisions in anti-profiteering cases.
