Karnataka GST Dept Forms Committee to Recommend Candidates for Technical Member Posts in GSTAT, Bengaluru

The Karnataka GST Department vide Notification No. FD 76 CSL 2023 dated June 15, 2024 constitutes the Search-cum-Selection Committee to recommend a panel of 4 names for appointing 2 posts of Technical Member (State) to the Goods and Services Tax Appellate Tribunal (GSTAT) to 02 State Benches in Bengaluru, Karnataka State.

In exercise of powers conferred under sub-section (4) of Section 110 of the Central Goods and Services Tax Act, 2017 (No.12 of 2017) read with Goods and Services Tax Appellate Tribunal (Appointment and Conditions of Service of President and Members) Rules, 2023, Government of Karnataka hereby constitutes the Search-cum-Selection Committee with following composition to recommend a panel of four (04) names for appointing two (02) posts of Technical Member (State) to Goods and Services Tax Appellate Tribunal to the two (02) State Benches in Bengaluru, Karnataka State.

The Search-cum-Selection Committee shall follow the following procedure in selecting the posts of Technical Members (State).

The Search-cum-Selection Committee may cause a vacancy circular to be issued through the Member Secretary, giving the details of the posts of Members proposed to be filled up, including the following-

(a) number of existing and anticipated vacancies;

(b) qualifications;

(c) salary and allowances;

(d) format for application; and

(e) last date for filing of applications,

in Form-I after making such modifications as may be deemed fit by the Committee.

The Committee shall scrutinise, every application received in response to the circular, against the qualifications and may shortlist such number of eligible candidates for personal interaction as it may deem fit.

The Committee shall make its recommendations based on the overall assessment of eligible candidates including assessment through the personal interaction after taking into account the suitability, record of past performance, integrity as well as adjudicating and experience keeping in view the requirements of the Tribunal and shall recommend a panel of two names for every post for which selection is being done in accordance with the provisions of sub-section (6) of Section 110 of the Central Goods and Services Tax Act, 2017.
