The GST Portal has launched the Invoice Management System (IMS), effective from October 14, 2024, aimed at streamlining how recipient taxpayers manage supplier invoices. The new system enhances accuracy in Input Tax Credit (ITC) claims and improves overall GST compliance.
Key Features:
Real-Time Invoice Management: Manage invoices as suppliers upload them.
Inward & Outward Supplies: Currently, only inward supplies can be managed. Outward supplies functionality is coming soon.
Enhanced ITC Accuracy: Accepted invoices directly influence ITC in GSTR-2B, while rejected ones are excluded.
Actions on Invoices:
- Accept: Valid invoice for ITC.
- Reject: Incorrect invoice, no ITC claim.
- Pending: Review later.
- Deemed Acceptance: Invoices automatically accepted if no action is taken.
Bulk Action: Manage large volumes of invoices efficiently.
Flexibility: Modify actions on invoices and recompute GSTR-2B even after its generation.
How to Use IMS:
- Log into the GST Portal and navigate to Invoice Management System.
- View inward supplies categorized as accepted, rejected, pending, or no action taken.
- Take action on selected invoices (individually or in bulk) and save your decisions.
Impact on GSTR-2B and GSTR-3B:
Draft GSTR-2B is generated on the 14th of each month, incorporating all accepted or no-action-taken invoices.
If changes are made after the draft, taxpayers need to recompute GSTR-2B before filing GSTR-3B.
Benefits:
Streamlined Reconciliation: Ensures accurate ITC reconciliation with suppliers.
Time-Saving: Reduces manual work, particularly for high-volume transactions.
Transparency: Real-time invoice management improves supplier-recipient collaboration.
This new system aims to simplify the GST compliance process, enhancing transparency, reducing errors, and saving time for businesses.
