The Goods and Services Tax Network (GSTN) has introduced biometric-based Aadhaar authentication and document verification for GST registration applicants in Ladakh. Advisory No. 541, issued on October 30, 2024, outlines this updated registration procedure.
Key Points for GST Registration in Ladakh
- Updated Rule 8 of CGST Rules: Applicants may now be selected for biometric-based Aadhaar authentication based on data analysis and risk assessment.
- Verification Process: After submitting Form GST REG-01, applicants receive one of two links via email:
OTP-Based Aadhaar Authentication link โ applicants can proceed with registration via OTP.
Appointment Booking for GSK Visit โ applicants must book an appointment for biometric verification and document check at a GST Suvidha Kendra (GSK).
- Documents for GSK Appointment:
Appointment confirmation email (hard/soft copy).
Jurisdiction details from the intimation email.
Original Aadhaar and PAN cards.
Original documents uploaded with the application.
- Biometric Process Completion: After biometric verification and document check at GSK, an Application Reference Number (ARN) is generated, concluding the registration steps.
This functionality is currently available for Ladakh applicants only, and the operating hours for GSKs will follow UT of Ladakh guidelines.
