Key Update

K. No. (Electricity Bill) is now mandatory in Column 24 of FORM REG-01 for new GST registrations in Rajasthan.
GSTN implemented this rule on February 4, 2025.
Applicants must upload a copy of their Electricity Bill to verify their business location.
Missing or invalid K. No. may result in physical verification of business premises.
Compliance is required under Sections 25, 151, and 168 of the Rajasthan Goods and Services Tax Act, 2017.

New Requirement for GST Registration in Rajasthan

The Rajasthan GST Department issued an Order (RajKaj Ref No.: 13534522) on February 13, 2025, enforcing stricter verification rules for GST registration.

  • Applicants must provide their K. No. (Electricity Bill) in Column 24 (State-Specific Information) of FORM REG-01.
  • The Electricity Distribution Company name and K. No. must match the details on the Electricity Bill.
  • A scanned copy of the Electricity Bill must be uploaded to verify the business location.

By implementing these measures, GSTN aims to improve business verification and prevent fraudulent registrations.

Validation Process & Consequences of Non-Compliance

  • Once an application is submitted, GSTN validates the details.
  • Proper officers review the information using the Boweb interface.
  • If the K. No. is missing or incorrect, authorities may conduct a physical verification before granting registration.

To enforce this requirement, the Rajasthan GST Department has issued directives under Section 168 of the Rajasthan GST Act.

Why This Matters

🔹 Ensures authentic business addresses in GST registration.
🔹 Prevents fraudulent GST registrations in Rajasthan.
🔹 Streamlines verification, reducing manual interventions.
🔹 Mandates clear proof of business location, ensuring better compliance.

Applicants and GST officials must strictly follow these guidelines to avoid delays or rejections in the registration process.
