Chhattisgarh GST Dept Issues Notification on Appointment of Technical Member (State) to GSTAT

The Chhattisgarh GST Department has issued Notification No. 01/2024-State Tax GSTAT on July 31, 2024, regarding the appointment of a Technical Member (State) to the State Bench of the GST Appellate Tribunal (GSTAT).
This notification, under the powers granted by Section 110 of the Chhattisgarh Goods and Services Tax Act, 2017, in conjunction with Clause (d) of Sub-section (1) of Section 110 of the Chhattisgarh Goods and Services Tax Act, 2017, and its proviso, outlines the following:
- Relaxation of Qualifications: The Government of Chhattisgarh, following the recommendations of the Council, has relaxed the qualifications for officers of Chhattisgarh. The required qualification of “completion of twenty-five years of service in Group A or equivalent” has been modified to “twenty-five years of service in the Government as a Gazetted officer” for a period of ten years from the date of publication of this notification.
All other conditions outlined in Clause (d) of Sub-section (1) of Section 110 of the Central Goods and Services Tax Act, 2017, continue to apply.
