Dr. Chawla, a 1992-batch IAS officer of the Bihar cadre, brings an extensive and diverse administrative experience to his new role:
- Secretary, Department of Pharmaceuticals (November 1, 2023 – December 2024):
Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilisers.
- Managing Director, Metro Rail Project Patna:
Oversaw project implementation and management.
- Foreign Assignments:
Senior Economist, International Monetary Fund (IMF).
Minister (Economic), Embassy of India, Washington DC.
- Previous Roles in Finance Ministry:
Served as Joint Secretary, Department of Expenditure.
