CBIC’s Special Campaign 4.0: Major Cleanup, Grievance Redressal, and Contraband Destruction

The Central Board of Indirect Taxes & Customs (CBIC), under the Ministry of Finance, conducted Special Campaign 4.0 from October 2-31, 2024, focusing on Swachhata (Cleanliness). This initiative aimed at enhancing cleanliness, addressing grievances, clearing backlogs, and eliminating contraband.

Key Achievements:

Grievance Redressal: Resolved 433 public grievances, 80 appeals, and five MP references.

Decluttering: Removed 27,656 outdated files, freeing office space and optimising storage.

Contraband Disposal: Destroyed 73 kg of drugs, 49 lakh foreign-origin cigarettes, and other contraband worth Rs. 460 crore.

Sustainability Efforts: Installed a Bio-Gas Plant at Vapi, turning waste into wealth, and launched green initiatives in Faridabad and Jaipur with sapling plantations.

Notable Cleanliness Drives:

819 Events: Cleaned public spaces, offices, and coastal areas like Valappu Beach, engaging over 400 CBIC officers and students.

Office Transformations: CGST Faridabad and Gurugram offices turned storage rooms into cafeterias and crèches, enhancing employee welfare.

Public Engagement:

Social Media Amplification: Shared around 200 posts on X and other platforms, highlighting efforts and fostering public awareness.
