CBDT Notifies Authority for Identifying Genuine Beneficiaries for Odisha Government’s Social Welfare Schemes

The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT), via Notification No. 106/2024 dated October 01, 2024, has designated the Principal Secretary to the Government & Chairman of the Odisha Computer Application Centre (OCAC) under Section 138(1)(a)(ii) of the Income-tax Act, 1961. This official will be responsible for identifying genuine beneficiaries of Odisha’s social welfare schemes.

This move aims to ensure that these welfare programs reach the correct individuals by having their information and eligibility verified through designated authorities. It enhances transparency and efficiency in distributing benefits under state-run schemes, ensuring that only rightful beneficiaries receive assistance.
