CBIC Issues Instructions to Close Attari Integrated Check Post for Most Movement

By Author | May 6, 2025

The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) issued Instruction No. 08/2025-Customs on May 5, 2025. It announces the closure of the Integrated Check Post (ICP) at Attari for both incoming and outgoing passengers and goods movement.

This follows an earlier directive from the Ministry of Home Affairs, Foreigners Division (Immigration Section), communicated via Instruction No. 06/2025-Customs dated April 26, 2025. The ministry’s order (OM No. 25022/05/2025-Imm. dated April 24, 2025) initially ordered the closure of the ICP.

However, the Ministry reviewed this decision and issued a modified order on May 1, 2025 (OM No. 25022/05/2025-Imm.). The new order allows limited movement through the ICP.

According to the updated instruction, Pakistani nationals with valid Pakistani travel documents can exit India and return to Pakistan. Similarly, Indian nationals with valid Indian travel documents may enter India from Pakistan through the ICP at Attari. These changes will remain in effect until further notice.

CBIC has asked all concerned authorities to take necessary and appropriate action based on these revised instructions.
