The Assam government, in an effort to ease the concerns of the business community regarding GST-related notices, has planned to organize regional consultations. Cabinet Ministers Ajanta Neog and Ashok Singhal have been tasked with conducting these consultations in six regions: Tinsukia, Sivasagar, Jorhat, Guwahati, Tezpur, and Silchar. They are expected to submit a report within a month.

In a move to foster emerging sports talent and build on the success of the Khel Maharan initiative, the Cabinet has approved a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) to provide financial assistance to one Youth Club or Sports Association in each of the 126 Legislative Assembly Constituencies (LACs). Each club or association will receive Rs 15 lakh, with Rs 75 lakh set aside for infrastructure development and electrification for standalone Youth Clubs lacking their own facilities. The selection of clubs and associations will be done by District Committees, following guidelines issued by the Sports and Youth Welfare Department.

To optimize resource use and bolster democratic representation at the local level, the Cabinet has approved a proposal for the reorganization of Development Blocks and the delimitation of Gaon Panchayats, Anchalik Panchayats, and Zilla Parishads in Assam. This decision comes in response to the need for reorganization and delimitation following the delimitation of LACs, which resulted in the existing jurisdiction of Development Blocks spanning more than one LAC, no longer reflecting the state’s evolving growth needs.
