Timely Physical Verification Now Mandatory

The Delhi GST Trade and Taxes Department, through Circular No. F.IV/42/T&T/Admn./Misc./2025/8464-67 dated July 23, 2025, has flagged repeated delays in physical verification of “High Risk Score” GST registration applications.

The circular specifically notes that GST Inspectors (GSTIs) and field functionaries have been delaying verification reports or refusing to act due to jurisdictional excuses.

Authorities Issue Stern Warning

According to the circular, officials often fail to submit reports on time. In some cases, they cite that the address mentioned in the ARN is not within their jurisdiction. The department has made it clear that such reasoning is not acceptable.

The Competent Authority emphasized that once a physical verification task is assigned, the responsible GSTI must carry it out without delay, regardless of jurisdiction boundaries.

Non-Compliance Will Invite Disciplinary Action

The department has issued a strong warning:

“Any dereliction of duty will be viewed seriously and attract strict disciplinary action under applicable rules.”

This warning highlights the department’s intention to enforce accountability and prevent procedural delays that undermine the registration system.

Final Directive to GST Officials

The assigned officer must conduct the visit and submit the report promptly. Failure to do so will not be tolerated, and jurisdiction cannot be used as an excuse.

This directive aligns with the department’s larger goal of tightening registration controls and preventing misuse of the GST system.
