Eight years after the implementation of GST, a new survey shows growing optimism among businesses.
Nearly 85% of respondents, including MSMEs, reported a positive outlook. They attributed this shift to better digitisation and proactive tax policy management.
This is the fourth consecutive year showing improved sentiment. By comparison, only 59% of respondents were optimistic in 2022.

Almost two-thirds of participants said that regular clarifications and instructions from the government and GST Council have reduced tax disputes.
However, MSMEs continued to report challenges, mostly around the implementation of GST norms.

Most businesses highlighted refund delays as the most pressing issue.
They cited “pro-revenue interpretations” by tax officials as a major roadblock to ease of doing business.
Just last week, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman urged the CBIC to ensure that funds are not unnecessarily held back.

When asked about needed changes, businesses prioritized:
