The Gujarat High Court has issued notices to the State Government and Harij Nagar Palika. This comes in response to a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) highlighting pollution in a local lake caused by waste dumping and untreated sewage.

The PIL, filed by activist Kanu Bhai, raises serious concerns about the deterioration of Gam Talab Lake in Harij town. It alleges that the municipality failed to manage waste disposal effectively. As a result, untreated sewage and garbage are discharged into the lake, harming both the environment and public health.

The court has asked the authorities to provide detailed responses. It directed them to clarify their position and outline measures to address the issue. The petition stresses the importance of preserving water bodies and improving waste management to maintain ecological balance and public well-being.

This case highlights the urgent need for accountability in addressing environmental issues and adopting sustainable practices.
