CBIC Issues Passenger Name Record Information (First Amendment) Regulations, 2024

The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) has released Notification No. 68/2024 – Customs (N.T.), dated October 22, 2024, amending the Passenger Name Record Information Regulations, 2022.
As per the powers under Section 157 of the Customs Act, 1962, the CBIC introduced changes to the Passenger Name Record Information (First Amendment) Regulations, 2024. These regulations will be effective from the date of their publication in the Official Gazette.
Key amendment:
In regulation 5, sub-regulation (4), the phrase “departure time; or” has been amended to “departure time and” to enhance clarity in the collection of passenger information.
